Claus August Gustafson was born January 1, 1893, at Doraps, Sweden. He was the son of Gustaf and Maria Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Doraps Lutheran Church in Sweden. At the age of 21 years, he came to the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mikelson at Hazel Run. There he made his home until he went back to Sweden for a visit. This he did twice. When he returned to the United States after his last trip, he made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Rachie at Minneapolis until he was taken to the Swedish Hospital after suffering a stroke. He was transferred from Swedish Hospital to a rest home in Mankato. After suffering another stroke and other complications, he was taken to St. Peter Hospital at St. Peter, where he remained until his passing on Sunday, May 25, 1969. He leaves to mourn his passing, two sisters, Mrs. Jenny Hall of Sweden and Mrs. Levi Rachie of Mankato; also nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In Memory of CLAUS A.
