Clarence Winson, the son of Lars and Thea (Olson) Winson, was born October 23, 1900, in Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized at Camp Release Church and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church of Montevideo by Rev. Pederson. On February 16, 1927, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Gunderson of Clarkfield by Rev. O.J. Erickson of Granite Falls, Minnesota. To this union three children were born: Audrey (Mrs. Leland McCoy) and Sherman, both of Clarkfield, and Richard of Richland, Washington. The Winsons have always resided near Clarkfield and the past fourteen years have lived on the Iver Haugen farm, south of Clarkfield. After an illness of about one year, suffering from amynaltropic lateral sclerosis, Clarence passed away March 1, 1965, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital. He reached the age of 64 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Severin and Olaf and one sister, Hilda Velde. Surviving are his wife, Sylvia; three children; one son-in-law and two daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; five sisters: Mrs. Laura Olson, Mrs. Alma Johnson, Mrs. Raymond Larson, Mrs. Clifford Sandager, all of Clarkfield, Mrs. Ivar Swanson of Montevideo; one brother, Miller of Zimmerman, Minnesota; one aunt, Mrs. Sophie Muxter of Montevideo.
