Clarence Augustine Sims was born August 31, 1899, at Rolfe, Iowa, Pocahontas County. His parents were Clara Emma Rogers Sims and Asbury Bishop Sims, he being the youngest son. There are four sisters and two brothers surviving. Two brothers passed away in infancy. His father passed away in 1918 and mother passed on in 1920. He was baptized at the age of 11 in the Methodist Church of Plover, Iowa. He graduated from high school at the age of 17. Mr. Sims passed away Monday morning, July 28, 1952, at his Hazel Run home. He moved to Hazel Run, Minnesota, with his widowed mother and family in February, 1920, and has lived on the same farm since, making this the thirty-third year. He served in the Panama Canal Zone for nine months during World War II. He was married in Frazee, Minnesota, on August 22, 1951, to Luverne Eldred of Echo, Minnesota, who is left to mourn his passing, together with his sisters: Mrs. Ethel Zaylor, Miss Rose Sims, Mrs. June Redshaw, and Mrs. Florence Roberts; brothers: Cecil and Elmer Sims. He also leaves to mourn his passing Mrs. Sims' four children by a former marriage: John, Richard, Nancy and Clarys Eldred. His presence will be missed in the Clarkfield Methodist Church which he so recently joined and also by a host of friends. Last rites for Mr. Sims were conducted at the Clarkfield Methodist-Episcopal Church Wednesday, July 30, 1952, with the Rev. W. Robert Fegan officiating. Mr. Lyndon Lofdahl sang two songs: "The Lord's Prayer" and "After", accompanied by Mrs. George Gehant. Pallbearers were all fellow members of the Hazel Run band, of which Mr. Sims had been a faithful and valued member for many years: H.I. Brown, Vernon Wilson, Elmer Haugland, John Gunlogson, Claude Miller and Milford Jacobson. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 Clarkfield Minnesota
