Clarence Merriam Severts was born at Clarkfield, Minnesota, on November 30, 1898, the son of Martin and Martha (Severson) Severts. He was baptized by Rev. G.A. Christenson on January 10, 1899, and confirmed May 24, 1914, by Rev. O.T. Storaasli, in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Deceased spent his entire life on the farm where he was born, two miles south and one and one- half miles west of Clarkfield. Since the death of his parents, Clarence had been manager of the Severts farm. His health failed him about two years ago, at which time he submitted to major surgery. This gave him only temporary relief, but he bore his lingering illness patiently and with no complaint until the end came on Thursday, March 6, 1958, aged 59 years, three months and five days. Mr. Severts was preceded in death by his parents. Leaving to mourn his death, are two brothers, namely Edwin and Newland, and two sisters, Stella and Martha, all at home; one uncle, Henry Severts of Marshall County, Minnesota, and a number of cousins and other relatives. As he was the oldest of the family, much responsibility was placed on Clarence. He was of a quiet nature, always willing that others should take the limelight. He will be sadly missed by the brothers and sisters, and his many relatives and friends. Blessed be his memory. IN MEMORY OF MR. CLARENCE M.
