Obituary

Clarence J. Heimark was born March 30, 1894, to Jacob Anderson and Christine (Storebo) Heimark. He was the first child to be born in their new home in Lisbon Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, now owned by Charles Heimark, Jr. He was baptized and confirmed in the Bergen Lutheran Church. He attended Lisbon Township School and after graduation attended Dunwoody Institute for mechanics. In June of 1918, he entered the U. S. Army. During his tour of duty he served in Germany and France and was honorably discharged in August 1919. He returned home to Lisbon to farm with his brother Henry J. Heimark. On September 5, 1922, he married Mabel Deline Monson of Granite Falls, Minnesota. (He died three days before their 60th anniversary.) They homesteaded and built a home in Lisbon Township. In 1961 they moved to Granite Falls. During his farming years he found time to be active as a trustee and board member of Bergen Lutheran Church, be on the school board and other community activities. Clarence died September 2, 1982, at the Granite Falls Hospital, at the age of 88 years. He is survived by five children: Charles of Clarkfield; Mae O'Brien of Absicon, New Jersey; Eleanor Johnson of Forest City, Iowa; Robert of Clarkfield and Clark of Montevideo, Minnesota; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and two sisters: Carrie Berg of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Bess Anderson of Northfield, Minnesota; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Julia Heimark of Montevideo, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by brothers Carl, Dr. Andrew, Dr. Julius, Ole, John and Henry and sisters Cecelia Ellingston, Ann Lindstead, Josephine Black and Clara. Funeral services for Clarence J. Heimark were held Saturday, September 4, 1982, 2:00 p.m. at Bergen Lutheran Church, Stony Run Township, with the Rev. William Klavetter officiating. Organist was Mrs. David Gabrielson and soloist was grandson, Adrian Johnson, who was accompanied by granddaughter, Andrea Summond. Casket Bearers (grandsons) were Charles Heimark Jr., Kevin O'Brien, Charles Lee Heimark, Donn Johnson, Curtis Heimark and Randal Heimark. Grandson, Ricky Heimark, carried the American flag. Military rites were conducted by the Clarkfield American Legion Post 169.
