Clarence Grimley was born September 21, 1890, at Fountain, Fillmore County, Minnesota, the son of Erik and Ragne (Asleson) Grimley. He was baptized and confirmed at Root Prairie Church, the latter by Rev. Arveson. He entered the Army September 21, 1917, and served his country overseas in France during the first World War and received his honorable discharge on May 24, 1919. For many years Clarence was a bus driver out of Rochester, Minnesota, and in his later years, farmed west of Clarkfield, Minnesota. On November 29, 1923, he was united in marriage to Sarah Rodness of Clarkfield. Clarence Grimley passed away at the Veteran's Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 69 years. He had been in poor health several years. His wife had been with him most of the time and was at his bedside when he departed. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sisters, Inga (Mrs. Ed Syverud) of Echo, Minnesota, Alma (Mrs. Herbert Leister) of Preston, Minnesota; one brother, Edwin, of Austin, Minnesota; 11 nephews and eight nieces.
