Obituary

Clarence Henry Eischens was born April 23, 1919, in Burton Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, the son of John M. and Magdalena (Baierl) Eischens. He died Sunday, July 18, 1982, at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 63. Mass of Christian burial for Clarence Eischens was held at St. Leo Catholic Church, St. Leo, Minnesota, Wednesday, July 21, 1982, at 10:30 a.m. with Father John Gleason of St. Leo officiating. The organist was Cheryl Streff. The music was furnished by the St. Leo Church Choir. Casket bearers were Lawrence Roles, Dennis Jelen, Kenneth Troye, Howard Eischens, Kevin Kopka and Larry Brawn. Prayer Service was held Tuesday evening at the Lynner Funeral Home, Clarkfield, Minnesota. The rosary was said by the Catholic Aid Society. Final Resting Place is the St. Leo Church Cemetery, St. Leo, Minnesota. Clarence was baptized and confirmed at St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, where he also attended school. He was engaged in farming for many years. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II, 1942-1946. Clarence had been a member of St. Leo Men's Club, St. Leo Catholic Aid Society, treasurer of School District #74, Canby Coop Board of Directors for nine years, treasurer of Burton Township for 30 years, Charter member of St. Leo American Legion Post #524, and was an active member of the Minnesota Farmers Union. He married Leona Roles on April 30, 1946, in St. Leo. Following their marriage they lived in the St. Leo area. He is survived by his wife, Leona, five daughters and one son: Mrs. Roger (Karen) Boerboom, Olivia, Minnesota, Mrs. Dean (Susanne) Gorecki, Curtis Eischens, Luella Eischens, Mrs, Bruce (Edna) Gossen and Mrs. Larry (Faye) Haugen, Jr., all of Minneota, Minnesota; and 12 grandchildren; his mother, Lena Eischens of St. Leo; three brothers and seven sisters: Mrs. Martin (Sue) Beck, Taunton, Minnesota, Mrs. Josephine Troye, St. Paul, Minnesota, Joe Eischens, Dawson, Minnesota, Mrs. Albert (Genevieve) Jelen, St. Leo, Mrs. Henry (Florence) Braun, St. Leo, Mrs. William (Magdalene) Kapolcznski, New Ulm, Minnesota, Mrs. Eugene (Bernice) Roles, Minneota, Minnesota, Mrs. Sylvester (Lillian) Sanow, Minneota, Minnesota, Mervin Eischens, St. Leo, and Sylverius Eischens, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his son, Francis; father, J. M. Eischens; and brother, Herman. IN MEMORY OF CLARENCE H.
