August 26, 1919 – November 10, 2011
A celebration and thanksgiving for eternal life service will be held for Clara Laechelt at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011, Zion Lutheran Church, rural Boyd, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow at the Zion Cemetery. Clara died on November 10, 2011, at the Clarkfield Care Center. Clara Emilie Rosin Laechelt, the oldest of seven children, was born on August 26, 1919, to the Rev. Louis and Lillie (Welkener) Rosin, at Campbell, Minnesota. She was baptized by her father on September 3, 1919. In 1927 she moved with her family to rural Boyd, Minnesota. Clara renewed her baptismal covenant at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Boyd, on May 15, 1932. While living with Ole and Mary Melbostad, she attended Clarkfield High School, graduating on May 31, 1935. On May 16, 1941, Clara married Wilfred Laechelt at Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with one son and three daughters. Wilfred and Clara farmed at rural Boyd and Rogers, Minnesota. In 1964 they moved to Clarkfield. In 1967 Wilfred began employment at Mankato State University; in 1970 the family moved to Mankato. Clara waitressed at Roxy Lunches in Clarkfield and held custodial positions at businesses in Clarkfield and Mankato. In addition, she enjoyed her active church life, especially as a leader in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed singing, and sang solos for weddings and funerals. Anyone who Clara knew would receive a greeting card on the dates of their special occasions! Wilfred passed away on January 24, 1986. In 1998 Clara returned to Clarkfield and resided there until her death. Survivors include Miriam (Larry) Schuler of Granite Falls, Minnesota; Jim (Pam) Laechelt of Shakopee, Minnesota; Rhoda (Tom) Schmidt of Cottonwood, Minnesota; Rachel (Mark) Burgess of Madison Lake, Minnesota; grandchildren: Brenda Pehrson, Chris and Corey Schuler, Ryan Laechelt, Matt Jungclaus, Jeff, Jim, Jon, Tami Schmidt and Matt Burgess; great grandchildren: Meghan, Caleb, Zachary Schuler, Warren Laechelt, Mason Burgess, Easton, Jaela, Grace Schmidt; brothers: Wilbert, Werner, Walter, Martin and David; sister-in-law, Elda Anderson; nieces and nephews.
