Clara Josephine Ronning was born on October 9, 1907, to John and Christine (Larson) Dale at rural Lily, South Dakota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Highland Lutheran Church at rural Lily, South Dakota. Clara attended rural school in Day County, South Dakota. On June 16, 1931, she married Benhard Ronning. After his death she married William Ronning on October 10, 1938 at Grace Lutheran Church of Watertown, South Dakota. They farmed near Florence, South Dakota, until 1946; then moving to Watertown, South Dakota and retirement. She was an active member of the Womens group at Grace Lutheran and she enjoyed gardening and flowers. In September of 1991 she came to live with daughter Doris in Hazel Run. She passed away January 28, 1993, at the Montevideo Hospital at the age of 85 years. Clara is survived by son, Dale Ronning and wife Lana of Watertown, South Dakota; daughter, Doris and husband Lyle Martin of Hazel Run, Minnesota; son, Dennis Ronning and wife Patty of Savannah, Georgia; daughter, Darlene and husband Mark Dunn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and eight grandchildren, Doreen Gebbart, Doug Ronning, Greg Martin, Jodi Sneller, Will Ronning, Alison Ronning, Kristin Dunn and Scott Dunn; two sisters, Mrs. Myron (Irene) Hjermstad of Watertown, South Dakota; and Mrs. Harold (Judith) Buer of Meadow, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Delmar (Gladys) Dale of Wallace, South Dakota and Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Ronning of La Mesa, California; and one brother-in-law, Harry Ihlen of Madison, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers and two sisters. Final Resting Place: Mt.
