Clara Ida Mathilda Willander was born in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, March 18, 1882, the daughter of Jonas Gust Johnson and Christina (Peterson) Johnson of Minneota, Minnesota. She departed this life March 18, 1958, on her 76th birthday, at her Friendship Township home. She remained with her parents in the Swede Prairie community until she was united in marriage to Edwin Willander of Bernadotte, Minnesota, later settling in Tyro Township of Yellow Medicine County, having lived in this community ever since. This union was blessed with 14 children, eight daughters and six sons, namely, Reynold (deceased), Cecelia (Mrs. Arthur Loose) of Boyd, Minnesota, Mrs. Vira Nodshilder of Fairbanks, Alaska, Wallace, Orin, Ruth of Clarkfield, Edith of St. Paul, Mrs. Bernice Johnson of Escondido, California, Jesse of Clarkfield, Junette (Mrs. Kenneth Yeider) of Woodland Hills, California, Donald of Minneapolis, May (Mrs. Glenn Larson) of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Delphine (Mrs. Luther Johnson) and Elsmore of Clarkfield. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nick Erickson of Hutchinson, Minnesota; one brother, S.O. Johnson of St. Paul who passed away on March 21st and laid to rest on the 25th at Benson, Minnesota. Her husband preceded her in death on April 30, 1938, as did one son, Reynold, on February 24, 1946. Deceased was an active member of the Gospel Tabernacle and a kind and loving mother.
