Clara Manda (Lee) Afdem, daughter of Mathias and Jertina (Jacobson) Lee, was born January 13, 1910 in Friendship Township, Yellow Medicine County. She passed away at the age of 89 years at the Clarkfield Care Center. She was baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and attended school in Clarkfield. She worked a short time in Minneapolis, MN, then returned to Clarkfield when her parents needed her help. She married Arnold Afdem on November 15, 1941. He passed away July 13, 1959. She worked as a waitress for many years and later worked at Larson Drug in Clarkfield until her retirement. She was a member of the Legion Auxiliary, WELCA and a lifelong member of the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. She entered the Clarkfield Care Center on August 28, 1990 where she resided until her death. She is survived by a sister, Thea Kopitzke of Willmar, MN and also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Arnold, three sisters and seven brothers.
