Clara Stevens was born on November 27, 1894, to Oluf and Annie (Halvorson) Jacobson in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at the Spring Creek Lutheran Church of Normania Township. On April 6, 1919, she was united in marriage to James R. Stevens. They spent most of their lives farming near Hanley Falls, Minnesota, before retiring in 1959 and moving into Hanley Falls. Three years ago, Clara moved into the Clarkfield Care Center, Clarkfield, Minnesota. She died on November 7, 1979, at the Community Memorial Hospital, of Clarkfield. She is survived by three sons: LaVern of Spokane, Washington, Clayton of Hanley Falls, and Orville of Westminster, Colorado; one daughter, Arlene (Mrs. Gene Johnson) of Montevideo, Minnesota; eight grandchidren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Marie Mickelson of Alexandria, Minnesota.
