Clara B. Wiegers was born to Fredrick and Emelia (Stabbe) Eckhardt on June 20, 1879, in Faribault County, Blue Earth, Minnesota. She was baptized on July 13, 1879, by Pastor Johannes Brant in Immanuel Lutheran Church near Blue Earth. At the age of five she came with her widowed father, brothers and sisters in a covered wagon to live in Omro Township of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. This trip took many days as they brought with them all their possessions including a few head of cattle. This area was mostly natural prairie at that time. Mrs. Wiegers spent the rest of her life in this part of Omro Township. On July 30, 1893, she was confirmed by Pastor Heinrich Vetter in Zion Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage on June 23, 1895, to John Wiegers who passed away March 12, 1940. Since her marriage she had been a very faithful member of St. John's Church. She passed away June 2, 1973, at the home of her son, Otto, at the age of 93 years. She was the last surviving member of the children of Fredrick Eckhardt. Surviving her are son Otto and wife Emma who gave her much loving care; three grandchildren: Florence (Mrs. Leon Warner) of Dawson, Minnesota, Muriel (Mrs. Virgil Kettner) of Springfield, Minnesota, and Joan (Mrs. Lyle Gorder) of Canby, Minnesota; four great grandchildren: Jon, Mary, Mark and Thomas Gorder.
