Clara Odella Berg Severson was born February 18, 1914 to Carl and Caroline (Opheim) Berg at their farm home near Clarkfield, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Clarkfield and was a graduate of Clarkfield High School. On December 26, 1940, she was married to John N. Severson of Kathryn, North Dakota. To this union five children were born: Marlene, Duane, Diane, Karen, and Steven. John and Clara farmed until their retirement in 1977 and moved to town. John passed away January 5, 1983. Clara passed away suddenly at her home on Friday, October 6, 1995 at the age of 81 years, 7 months, 19 days. She is survived by her children: Duane (and Vonnie) of Clarkfield, Diane Setterstrom of Fargo, North Dakota; Karen (and Frank) Denny of Brainerd, and Steven (and In Suk) of Tacoma, Washington, and son-in-law Gene Jordan of Brainerd. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Deanna and Kari Severson, Doug, Darla and Dan (and Rachel) Setterstrom, Brad and Tania Denny and great granddaughter Halie Marie Setterstrom. Also surviving are brothers: Bill and Harold, and sister: Judith Rysdahl and sisters-in-law Inez, Arda, and Edith Berg and Olga and Opal Severson and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John, daughter Marlene and three brothers and three sisters. Clara was employed at the Clarkfield Care Center as a nursing assistant for 18 years. She retired in 1993 and continued to assist many elderly people in their home health needs. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Clarkfield. She enjoyed family and people and especially her grandchildren. She liked working with her flowers and her home always had coffee for visitors. Blessed be her memory.
