Christine Bertina Midboe was born February 19, 1900, in Vallers Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, to Smith and Sophia Helena Barstad Midboe. She was baptized by Pastor Ramstad, April 15, 1900, at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood, Minnesota and confirmed by Pastor Ole Lokensgaard in August of 1915 at Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church. She attended rural country schools in the Hanley Falls - Cottonwood area. She grew to womanhood in the same farming communities. Christine married Edwin A. Olson at Granite Falls Lutheran parsonage October 1, 1921. Pastor Wrolstad officiated. There were eight children born to this union. Hanley Falls was the family home until she entered the nursing home in 1984. Her life was busy with family. She was a member of Hanley Falls Legion Auxiliary and Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church Circles. She loved to garden. Christine died May 8, 1992 ,at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 92 years 2 1/2 months. Survivors are daughters, Helen (Mrs. Curtis Wilson) of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Maxine (Mrs. Harvey Reishus) of New London, Minnesota, Donna (Mrs. LeRoy Schmidt) of Wood Lake, Minnesota, Verna (Mrs. John Olson) of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Lillian Knox of Selfridge, North Dakota; and son, Dr. Robert Olson (wife Julie) of Faribault, Minnesota. She leaves 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are sisters, Lily Pico of Los Angeles, California and Ruth Ellis of San Diego, California; brothers, Morris Midboe of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Gordon Midboe of Los Angeles, California and step-sister Stella Olson of Hanley Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Edwin; sons, Earl and Richard; brothers, Hartford and Arnold; sister, Jesse Miller; step-sisters, Margie Hamilton and Ellen Lovsness.
