IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Christina (Olson)
Persons
March 26, 1870 – March 31, 1954
Christina Persons was born March 26, 1870, the daughter of Bengt and Pernilla (Swenson) Olson, in Skane, Sweden, Nasum Congregation, at which place she was baptized. She came with her parents to America and to Minnesota when six months old. She was confirmed by Rev. B.F. Bengston in a Tyro school house as there were no church buildings at that time. On December 27, 1911, she was united in marriage to Oscar Persons and they moved to Reeder, North Dakota, where they farmed for more than thirty years. They were members of Wolf Butte Lutheran Church. They retired and moved to Hettinger, North Dakota, where they were members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of which P.O. Bergstrom was the pastor. They moved to Clarkfield and resided with her brother, Ernest Olson, and transferred to the First English Lutheran Church. On October 14, 1952, Mrs. Persons suffered a severe stroke from which she never recovered. She spent the time since at the hospital and at the home of her sister, Mrs. Anna Rodness. Christine passed away March 31, 1954, at the age of 84 years and five days. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother. She leaves to mourn her husband; two brothers, Henry and Ernest Olson; five sisters: Emma and Elizabeth, Mrs. Anna Rodness, Mrs. Reka Roedl, all of Clarkfield, and Selma (Mrs. Robert Devereaux) of Wadena, Minnesota; also several nieces and nephews.
