Christiana Adalbjorg Gottskalkson Hofteig was born February 9, 1897, in Lincoln County, Minnesota, the daughter of H.G. and Ingeborg (Foss) Gottskalkson. Her early life was spent in Lincoln County where she was educated in the rural schools and the public school in Ivanhoe. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lincoln Lutheran Church. On December 15, 1915, she was united in marriage to Haldor B. Hofteig. The couple farmed in Westerheim Township, Lyon County. She continued to live on the farm following Mr. Hofteig's death and until she was hospitalized. The past year her health had been failing and she passed away on Tuesday, December 14, 1965, at the Marshall Hospital, Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 68 years. She was very active in both the Westerheim and St. Paul's congregations and served in auxiliaries and sang in the choir. She had a special interest in social concern and was active in the Lutheran Welfare and Lutheran Social Service. She also served as Camp Mother at the Sunrise Lutheran Camp for children in Gimli, Manitoba, Canada. Surviving her are one daughter and one son: Dorothy Hofteig of Minneapolis and Cecil of Minneota; two grandchildren: Mary Hofteig of Minneapolis, and Todd Hofteig of Hazel Run, Minnesota; one great grandchild, Michelle; five sisters: Mrs. J.P. Josephson of Ivanhoe, Minnesota, Mrs. Hannah Smith of Marshall, Minnesota, Mrs. Lillian Velesque of Berkeley, California, Mrs. F.O. Stegner of Marshall, Minnesota, and Mrs. Worrell Deuser of Berkeley, California; three brothers: Arne Gottskalkson of Taunton, Minnesota, Baldur and Jake Gottskalkson of Porter, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her husband, one foster daughter, two sisters and her parents. IN MEMORY OF MRS. H. B.
