Christian G. Sannerud was born June 4, 1890, in Lorenskogen, Norway, to Gunnerius and Kristine Sannerud. He came to America at the age of 18 years to his cousins, the Olof Jacobsons. His older brother, Olaf had arrived a few years earlier. At the age of 27, he joined the army and served this country during World War I. After returning from service, he continued to work at the Alfred Anderson farm east of Hazel Run. On May 29, 1923, he was united in marriage to Margaret Adrian of Munich, North Dakota. Five children were born to this union: Alfred, Curtis, Eugene, Lois and Glen. In the spring of 1925, he started farming on the C.S. Orwell farm in Normania Township. He continued farming there until he retired in 1954. Death came to Christ on April 20, 1968, at the Veterans' Hospital, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 77 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother in Norway, and his brother, Olaf of Hazel Run. Surviving are his widow, Margaret; four sons: Alfred of Anoka, Curtis of Hazel Run, Eugene of Granite Falls, Glen of Minneapolis; and daughter, Lois (Mrs. Ted Bartel) of Kandiyohi; one brother, Gustav of Norway; and thirteen grandchildren.
