Christian Rustad was born January 22, 1887, at Strinden, Trondheim, Norway, to parents Iven and Karen Rustad. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Bratsberg Church near Trondheim. He came to Lac qui Parle County from Norway when he was about 20 years old. There he spent the rest of his life doing farm work and carpentry, many of those years at the Belsaas home. The past eight and one-half years of his retirement, he lived at the Anton Nelsons' home at Boyd. He passed away June 17, 1969, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, Clarkfield, Minnesota, at the age of 82 years, after a terminal illness of three months. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Peter Belsaas; a niece, Mrs. Olaf Fremo of Boyd, Minnesota; and other nieces and nephews.
