Christian Cole, son of Lars and Johanna (Dahl) Cole, was born June 2, 1878, in Sandnes Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the old Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church by Pastor Knute Thostenson. On March 20, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Helga Slotten. They settled on the farm south of Hanley Falls where he lived ever since. To Mr. and Mrs. Christian Cole were born five children, all who survive them. His wife passed away in 1947. In 1945 he retired from active farming but made his home on the home farm. He had been of good health, and was stricken suddenly Monday, August 1st when he suffered a stroke and was taken to the Clarkfield Community Hospital. Here he peacefully slept away without regaining consciousness on August 2nd, 1955, at the age of 77 years and two months. He is survived by his five children, three sons and two daughters: Lawrence of Loreburn, Saskatchewan, Canada, Joe of Hanley Falls, Roy of Montevideo, Minnesota, Pearl (Mrs. Don Brabender) of Wood Lake, Minnesota, and Harriet (Mrs. Gerald Velde) of Granite Falls, Minnesota; 14 grandchildren; and a large number of nieces and nephews. One brother, Albert Cole of Hanley Falls and one sister, Mrs Iver Nelson of Cottonwood survive him. His parents and three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. Christian Cole was a faithful member of Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls and for many years served as an officer of the congregation on the Board of Trustees and Board of Deacons. He was a faithful attender at the services and supporter of the work of the church and its missions.
