Charlotte Emelia Westre was born August 24, 1894, at Thor, Iowa, the daughter of Lars and Celia (Lund) Westre. She was baptized by Rev. Farseth in the Thor Church. As a young girl she came with her parents to the Clarkfield community where she attended school and was confirmed by Rev. Storaasli in Clarkfield Lutheran Church, where she was a member until six years ago when she joined Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She was a charter member of the local Willing Workers and the local Legion Auxiliary. Miss Westre attended school at Red Wing, Minnesota, and taught parochial school in many districts. As a clever seamstress, she worked in a child's clothing concern in Minneapolis. Approximately seven years ago she began work at Sister Kenny Institute in Minneapolis where she has worked faithfully helping the sick and massaging paralyzed limbs. In spite of her own suffering she completed her work on the Tuesday shift and was brought to the local hospital the following Friday, June 10th, and passed away Thursday, June 16th. She leaves to mourn her departure, four brothers, namely, Oscar, Lloyd, and Walter of the Clarkfield community, and Eugene of Minneapolis; two sisters, Mrs. Arden Jurgenson and Mrs. Orville Husby, also of the Clarkfield community; three nieces and twelve nephews, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
