Charlotte J. (Runyon) Quammen was born July 9, 1912, to Rollie and Alma (Rhyme) Runyon at Lehigh, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She married Clarence Quammen on May 20, 1936, at the home of her parents in Clarkfield, Minnesota. They lived and farmed near Boyd, Minnesota. After retirement from the farm, Charlotte enjoyed her restaurant work in Clarkfield. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Boyd, Minnesota, where she was an active member in the E.L.C.W. and where she taught Sunday School for many years. Charlotte passed away at the Chippewa County Montevideo Hospital on Wednesday, April 24, 1991, at the age of 78. She is survived by her husband, Clarence of the Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo, Minnesota; four sisters, Mrs. Ruth (Frank) Bebout of Bellvue, Washington, Mrs. Marjorie (Palmer) Moen of Montevideo, Minnesota, Mrs. Delores (Telford) Berg of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Mrs. Ardath (Gordon) Johnson of Pierz, Minnesota; one brother, Mr. Rhodean Runyon of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Dorothy Hinz, Vesta Kaupang and Viola Jane Runyon in infancy.
