Charles Savoie, Sr., of Marshall, Minnesota, died February 14, 2016, at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall at the age of 81. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Fr. Paul Wolf will be the celebrant and burial will be in the Clarkfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Charles John Savoie, Sr. was born December 3, 1934, in Lynd Township, Lyon County, Minnesota, the son of Edward and Eleanor (Kack) Savoie. He grew up in rural Minneota and attended school there. Charles was united in marriage with Rosalee Granell June 14, 1957. Charles served in the U.S. Army from 1957 until July of 1963. They lived in the area until settling in Hanley Falls in 1968. He worked as a mechanic for Schwans for 28 years. Charles was a member of the Hanley Falls American Legion. They moved to Marshall in 2008. He is survived by his wife, Rosalee; two children: Charles (Patricia) Savoie, Jr. of Hanley Falls, Minnesota, and Colette (James) Rosenau of Echo, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Dale Lundberg of Ivanhoe, Minnesota; and three sisters: Shirley Severson of Marshall, Anne (Phil) Roth of Seattle, Washington, and Judy (Kerry) Running of Northfield, Minnesota. Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son, Carlton in 1964; a daughter, Charmaine Lundberg in 2013; a son-in-law, Arlyn Shemon; a brother, Gordy Savoie; and a brother-in-law, Warren Severson.
