Charles Glenn Jorgenson, 27, of Clarkfield, Minnesota, died Tuesday, February 26, 1985, from injuries suffered in a farm accident. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1, 1985, at the Clarkfield Lutheran Church with Pastors Gordon Trelstad and Peter Dorn officiating. Organist was Rhoda Nelson with vocal music by Ross and Kayann Riecke. Casket Bearers were Kent Hegna, Michael Jorgenson, Dewayne Kurtenbach, Gene Miller, Phillip Nelson and David Velde. Final Resting Place is the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery, Clarkfield, Minnesota, with Military Rites by American Legion Post 169 of Clarkfield, Minnesota. He was born August 3, 1957, at the Clarkfield Hospital to Glenn and Edith (Gullickson) Jorgenson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church and attended Clarkfield Elementary and High School. He graduated in 1976. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and took basic training at Camp Pendleton, California. He was transferred to Camp LeJune in North Carolina. He served one year in Okinowa. He married Lois Harrah on June 14, 1980, in the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Charleston, West Virginia. They had one son, Devin Matthew, born January 18, 1985. He was engaged in dairy farming until his death. He is survived by wife Lois and son Devin of Clarkfield; mother Edith of Clarkfield; sisters Heather of Birmingham, Alabama, Hope (Mrs. Michael) Carey of Prescott, Arizona, and Holly (Mrs. Timothy) Lundstrom of Staples, Minnesota; mother-in-law Mrs. Eloise Harrah; sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bowen Jr.; plus aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. By BYRON HIGGIN Friday, March 1 they buried Glenn Jorgenson, 58 at the Clarkfield Lutheran Cemetery. Cause of death: Officially it was a heart attack. Unofficially it was a "broken heart." As he was buried with full military rites, so was his son Charles, 27, who was buried alongside him - both having been taken from the Clarkfield Lutheran Church after a "double" funeral service at 2 p.m. on Friday. Charles Jorgenson died sometime after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, Feb. 26 when he was charged by a bull on the family farm. His chores remained undone, the cows were not milked. And the bull, whom the Jorgensons knew was of bad temper, was to be shipped out soon - a decision having been made the night before. Jogenson's wife Lois had wanted the bull sold. "The night before I made him promise to get rid of it. I was so relieved at that decision," she said. Earlier she had seen the temper of the bull flare while she was in the barnyard - and it had scared her. But while she was feeling safe with the decision, the bull apparently got one more chance. Charles Jorgenson was struck in the chest by the force of the bull and apparently had many bruises across his body. The family has found some comfort in the fact the Charles probably lost consciousness with the blow and never really suffered before his death. Both his wife Lois and his mother Edith were home when the accident occured. It was Edith who went looking for him to tell him she was preparing lunch. What she found was her son lying outside the barnyard with the various wounds. All this was hard on her husband Glenn as they began preparing for their only son's funeral. A U.S. Marine Corp member, Charles had been the one they were counting on to hold together the family farm. Glenn had been weakened by illness and was unable to help. But as they prepared the funeral, two days later, on Thursday, Feb. 28, Glenn Jorgenson died in his bed - with heart attack given as the reason for death. But those close to him knew it was more because of a "broken heart". He had always counted on Charles, putting such heavy tasks as acting as pallbearer at a relatives funeral off on his son and of-course the chores. THIS TYPE of tragedy, was not unknown to the Jorgenson family. Edith had a brother die a few years ago following an animal attack on a farm. Her son's sudden death the same way was the second ordeal she's had to suffer through. CHARLES AND LOIS Jorgenson had been the proud parents of their first child on Jan. 18. They had the child, Devin Matthew at the Granite Falls hospital, where Lois is employed, and it was the "First Baby of the Year", at that hospital. Lois was still on leave from the hospital until March 11, following the birth of the couple's baby. CHARLES JORGENSON, who was born and raised in Clarkfield went to Clarkfield High School, then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent a year in Okinowa. He and Lois Harrah were married on June 14, 1980 in Charleston, West Virginia. Because of his service committment he was buried with full military rites. GLENN JORGENSON, who lived on the family homestead since he was three years old, farmed on Hwy. 59 just outside Clarkfield. He, too, was a veteran, serving in the United States Navy during World War II. He farmed for some time with his father and brother Dale and Dennis. He, too, was a graduate of Clarkfied High School.
