Charles B. Johnson was born October 15, 1884, in Lincoln County, Minnesota, the son of Berger and Carrie (Rowberg) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Kleven at Minneota, Minnesota, and grew to manhood on his parents' farm near Minneota. On March 2, 1912, at Pipestone, Minnesota, he was united in marriage to Anna Grudem of Brookings, South Dakota. They farmed for three years near Cottonwood, Minnesota, and then moved to the farm they purchased in Swede Prairie Township, which was their home for forty-four years. In 1956, they retired and moved to the home they built in Clarkfield. Mr. Johnson passed away on September 21, 1962, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 77 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are his wife, Anna; son, Warren and wife, Marilyn and ten grandchildren; three brothers and one sister: Julius of Minneota, Alfred of Cottonwood, Herbert of Montevideo, and Mrs. Amanda Grudem of Minneapolis.
