IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Cecil Simeon
Sims
October 10, 1887 – October 10, 1887
Cecil Simeon Sims was the second child of Clara M. Rogers Sims and Asbury Bishop Sims. He was born on October 10, 1887, near Gilbert, Story County, Iowa. He moved with his parents to Pocahontas County near Rolfe, Iowa, in 1892, where he grew to manhood and learned both the carpenter and blacksmith trades. Following the death of his father in 1918, he managed the home farm together with his brother, Clarence, and a few years later, continued with his brother in farming at Granite Falls, Minnesota. In the early 1950s he retired from active farming and established his home at Hanley Falls, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed in the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church at Hanley Falls by Rev. Andrew Hegre on May 14, 1956. During the past few years, his health had been failing and he succumbed to a heart attack at Minneota on the afternoon of August 29, 1962, at the age of 74 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brothers Elmer, Arthur, Paul and Clarence. Surviving are his sisters: Mrs. Florence Roberts of Deer Creek, Minnesota, Mrs. Rose Parmley of Mira Loma, California, Mrs. Ethel Taylor of Van Nuys, California, and Mrs. June LeCurtis of Glen Avon, California and several nieces and nephews.
