Cecelia Johanna
(Olson) Hanson
January 24, 1889 – November 6, 1976
Cecelia Johanna Hanson, daughter of Ove and Margarethe (Lund) Olson was born on January 24, 1889, in Thor, Iowa, where she was baptized in the Lutheran faith. In 1901, she together with her parents, moved to Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, settling in Tyro Township. She was confirmed by Rev. Farseth in Clarkfield Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. On June 11, 1913, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Hanson. To this union were born three children: Marjorie (Mrs. Vernon Wilson) of Redwood Falls, Theresa (Mrs. Fred C. Krueger) of New Richmond, Wisconsin, and Edward C. Hanson of Boyd, Minnesota. In 1921, she was widowed, and the family moved to Clarkfield where she resided until her health began to fail her. For most of the last two years she made her home with daughter and husband, the Vernon Wilsons in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. During her lifetime, she was very active in the work of the church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and ladies' chorus, and working in the Ladies Aid. On October 28, 1976, she suffered a massive stroke and was taken to the Redwood Falls Hospital, where she passed away peacefully at 6:30 p.m., on November 6, 1976, at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 13 days. She is survived by her three children; four grandchildren: Terrance Wilson of Malta, Montana, Charles Wilson of Northfield, Minnesota, James Hanson of Boyd, Minnesota, and Gretchen (Mrs. L. W. Shay) of New Richmond, Wisconsin; four great-grandchildren: Michelle, Vicki and Bridget Wilson of Malta and Jessica Wilson of Northfield; three sisters: Mrs. L.E. Amdahl of Northfield, Agnes Olson of Clarkfield, and Mrs. C.T. Anderson, Sacred Heart. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one infant sister; a sister, Alice; and three brothers: Carl, Gerhard and Selmer Olson. Blessed be her memory! IN MEMORY OF MRS.
