Cecelia Heimark Ellingson, eldest daughter of Pioneer Lisbon Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, parents, Jacob and Christine Heimark, was born on the present Heimark homestead on December 13, 1881. She was baptized by the Rev. Ole Lokensgaard on January 8, 1882, and at the age of 16 was confirmed in Bergen Lutheran Church by the Rev. H.O. Fjeldstad on October 31, 1897. In May, 1909, she was united in marriage to Alfred W. Ellingson of Fargo, North Dakota. Five daughters and one son were born to this union: Mildred (Mrs. G.B. Sanderson) of Detroit, Michigan, Evelyn (Mrs. William Smale) of Flint, Michigan, and Tarpon Springs, Florida, Mr. Gordon Ellingson of New York City, New York, Clara (Mrs. Joseph VanWie) of Huntington Woods, Michigan, Edna (Mrs. Doyle Clark) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Helen (Mrs. Bob Densmore) of Livonia, Michigan. While attending Red Wing Ladies' Seminary, she willingly returned home to help care for her widowed mother as well as her eleven brothers and sisters. After nearly two years of failing health, she passed away on September 12, 1967, at Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 85 years. Along with her six children, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; four brothers and sisters: Ole J. Heimark of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Mrs. Carrie Berg of Bemidji, Minnesota, Clarence Heimark of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and Bessie (Mrs. Archie Anderson of Hopkins, Minnesota. She was laid to rest in the family lot where her parents, five brothers and three sisters are at rest. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
