CATHERINE N. BURKE was born on October 4, 1897, to Samuel and Jessie (MacLellan) Nicolson in Nova Scotia, Canada. Catherine was the oldest of twelve children. After schooling and her years of work at home, in 1915 she moved to Albany, New York, where she worked in the office of the Boston and Albany Railroad. After a few years she moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she worked for an insurance company. She was united in marriage to William Burke on February 14, 1925. To this union one daughter was born. Catherine lived in Boston until 1967 at which time she and her husband moved to Clarkfield, Minnesota. She entered the Clarkfield Care Center in January of 1981 and was a resident there until April of 1982 when she transferred to the Glenwood Retirement and Nursing Home where she lived until the time of her death. She passed away at the Glacial Ridge Hospital November 2, 1982 at the age of 85 years and 29 days. Catherine is survived by one daughter, Elaine (Mrs. Norman Wold) of Glenwood, Minnesota, formerly of Clarkfield, Minnesota; three granddaughters: CATHY (Mrs. Tom Angus) New Brighton, Minnesota, PAM (Mrs. Dan Engebretson) Luverne, Minnesota, CHRIS (Mrs. Daryl Werneke) St. Paul, Minnesota; three Great grandchildren: Sara and Scott Angus and Nathan Engebretson; three sisters: Mrs. John Giorgio, Montclair, California, Mrs. Dan Forbes and Mrs. Harold MacKenzie both of Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia; One brother: Archie Nicolson, Hamilton, Ontario She was preceded in death by her husband, Parents, three sisters and four brothers.
