Obituary

Carrie Brusven Kise was born in Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on December 1, 1892, to parents Olaus and Anne (Rowberg) Brusven. Carrie was the last remaining member of the Olaus Brusven family, one of the first pioneers to settle west of St. Lucas Church on the Yellow Medicine River. She was baptized by Pastor Knut Thorstenson and confirmed by Pastor Martin Romstad in St. Lucas Church where she remained a lifelong member. She was also an active member of the Ladies Aid when she lived in Normania Township. On February 22, 1918, she was united in marriage to John O. Kise by Pastor Shurson. To this union four sons were born. Carrie and her husband farmed in Normania Township for many years. After his death in 1957, she lived in Montevideo and Minneapolis. About eight years ago she entered the Madison Lutheran Home. She passed away August 7, 1976, at the Madison Lutheran Home at the age of 83. Survivors include two sons: Giles and John of Madison; nine grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, her parents, three brothers, and five sisters. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
