Carol Sheveland, of Wood Lake, passed away Friday, December 15, 2017 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton, Florida at the age of 76. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Wood Lake United Methodist Church in Wood Lake, MN. Rev. Mark Winther will officiate and interment will be in East Yellow Medicine Lutheran Cemetery in Hanley Falls, MN. Visitation with family will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Lynner Funeral Home in Clarkfield, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to services on Friday. Carol Lee (Blokzyl) Sheveland was born on Septmber 20, 1941 in Renville, Minnesota to John and Esther (Bakker) Blokzyl. She graduated from high school in Wood Lake, and continued her education at Globe College of Business in the Twin Cities area while working at an oil company. On September 25, 1965, Carol was united in marriage to Merald Truman Sheveland at the Methodist Church in Wood Lake and they moved to Wood Lake together in 1970. She was employed at North Star Mutual Insurance Company in Cottonwood in May of 1977 and worked there until June of 2003. Carol and her husband spent the last 12 years wintering together in Florida, where she loved to sun tan. She also enjoyed playing cribbage and other card games, making ceramics, needlepoint embroidery, shopping, and watching Minnesota sports. Carol was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Wood Lake. Carol is survived by her husband, Merald; two sons: Christopher and Travis (Dana) of Denver, CO; two grandsons: Mason and Tycen; siblings: Doug (Lynn) Blokzyl of Melbourne Beach, FL, Dave (Gloria) Blokzyl of San Tan Valley, AZ, Barb (Warren) Gerdes of Spicer, MN, and Deb (Craig) Lilja of Newman Grove, NE; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
