IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carl
Stensrud
September 25, 1897 – February 12, 1992
Carl Stensrud was born on the farm in Westerheim Township in Lyon County September 25, 1897, to Oscar and Anne Broughton Stensrud. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Normania Township. He attended rural school. Eileen Smith Jacobson and Carl were united in marriage on September 7, 1948. They farmed south of Clarkfield and in 1963 moved into Clarkfield. Through the years, Carl belonged to various farm organizations. He played violin for local events, enjoyed watching birds and gardening. Carl especially enjoyed reading the Bible and the Readers Digest. He was very light on his feet and at the age of 85 could still stand on his head. Carl believed most everything could be fixed with tape, glue, or wire and always tried doing this before buying new. As a grandpa, Carl made his grandchildren realize they could accomplish anything. He told them they would each add something very special to this world. Because of medical reasons, he never got to attend special events in his grandchildren's growing up years, but they always knew he was with them in thought. He never forgot a birthday or special event. His grandchildren declare he was the best grandpa anyone could ever have, always being positive, energetic and smiley. He will be greatly missed. Carl died Wednesday, February 12, 1992, at the Weiner Memorial Medical Center in Marshall, Minnesota at the age of 94. Survivors are Marilyn Kompelien and her husband Jim of Minneota, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jackie Esping and her husband David of Taunton, Minnesota, Stanley Kompelien and his wife Dee Dee of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Jill Boehne and her husband Scott of Cottonwood, Minnesota, and Jody Kompelien of Brookings, South Dakota; two great grandchildren, Courtney and Derek Esping; one brother, Marvin of Minneota; and several nieces and nephews.
