Obituary

Carl H. Skaug was born in Oslo, Norway, November 16, 1876, the son of Jergon and Josephine Skaug, being one of twelve children. At the age of seven years he came to America where he has since resided. He was baptized as an infant in Norway and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was united in marriage to Hulda Silver on December 12, 1906. This union was blessed with four children: Valnette (Mrs. A.L. Nelson) of Cambridge, Minnesota, Marjorie, at home, Hilding of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Belva, (Mrs. F.T. Eng) of White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Mr. Skaug was active in community life, being a member of his church board, the school board, fire department and city council. He served as barber in the village for many years and also served several years on the local police department. Early Christmas morning he was stricken with a heart attack and was rushed to the local hospital where he passed away on the morning of January 5, 1956, at the age of 79 years, one month and 19 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife and four children, besides five grandchildren. Two sisters, Athalia Skaug of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Myrian Flugstad of Montevideo; and four brothers, Emil and Melvin, of Clarkfield, Oscar of Marshall, Minnesota, and John of Boyd, Minnesota.
