Carl Edwin Johnson was born January 10, 1892, in Gammalstorp, Sweden, the son of Ernst and Bengta (Nelson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Gammalstorp Lutheran Church. He came to America in 1911. He worked as a blacksmith in Clarkfield and then in Minneapolis where he was employed at Honeywell until his health failed. He spent his summers in Minnesota and his winters in Florida until last October when he moved to the Clarkfield Care Center. He passed away at the Clarkfield Community Hospital on November 18, 1972, at the age of 80 years. He is survived by his brother, Fritz, and Fritz's wife, Anna, of Clarkfield; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bernard Johnson; two nieces of Sweden; three nephews: Curtis, James, and Alvern Johnson; and a niece, Stina (Mrs. Erling Anderson) all of Clarkfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Oscar, Bernard and Heimer.
