September 27, 1880 – September 30, 1963
Pastor Carl Oscar Bomgren was born September 27, 1880, in Sweden. He came to America as a young lad. He attended college at Wittenburg in the state of Kansas and Bethany in Pennsylvania. On July 12, 1911, he was united in marriage to Ella Cecilia Dahl, daughter of John A. and Christine Dahl, a lay pastor. They began their work together in the gospel ministry at Marathon, Iowa, where their son, Linnae, and daughter, Olga, were born. Their second parish was at Greensburg, Pennsylvania, where their youngest son, Roy, was born. They served at Meridan, Connecticut; Falconer, New York, and Lake City, Minnesota, before coming to the Swede Home/First English parish in Clarkfield. Following his retirement in 1954, a vacancy occurred at Newman Grove, Nebraska, and he not only served as pastor but also carried the load of a large building project. The Bomgrens resided in Granite Falls until her passing. Since then he has made his home in Clarkfield. He passed away at the Clarkfield Nursing Home on Monday, September 30, 1963, at the age of 83 years.
