Burnette Selma Jolstad was born February 6, 1905, to Bernt and Syverinne (Johnson) Jolstad of Normania Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Lucas Lutheran Church, Normania Township. She married Alfred Formo of Granite Falls, Minnesota, on August 16, 1925. They lived in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, where she worked for over 20 years in the St. Louis Park School System, several as head cook. Burnette also lived at Brookside Manor in Montevideo, Minnesota, and most recently at Henry Hill apartments in Granite Falls, Minnesota. During her retirement she took great pride and joy in making hundreds of quilt tops for the St. Lucas Womens Mission Program. Burnette passed away July 11, 1991, at the Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years. She is survived by sisters-in-law, Hilda Jolstad and Eldora Jolstad; seven nieces and nephews; and many great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Formo; three brothers, Lars, Randolph and Gordon; and three sisters, Julia, in infancy, Agnes and Liala.
