Burdell Cyrus Hanson was born December 10, 1910, in Story County, Iowa. He was the fourth son of Milton C. and Olive (Lura) Hanson. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith in McCalsburg, Iowa, and confirmed in Israel Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota. He graduated from Clarkfield High School. Burdell enlisted in the Army Air Force on September 21, 1942. While serving during World War II in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, he was awarded several combat K theater ribbons, the Air Medal with clusters, and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He returned from service in 1945 and resumed farming in Swede Prairie Township. Mr. Hanson passed away December 18, 1978, at the Clarkfield Community Hospital, at the age of 68 years. Burdell was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lola; and two brothers: Millard and Homer. He is survived by his brother, Clifford, of Boyd, Minnesota; and two nephews: Milton E. "Duby" Hanson of Granite Falls, Minnesota, and James of Minneapolis. IN MEMORY OF BURDELL C.
