Obituary

Bruce Joel Winge July 28, 1958 ~ November 6, 2012 Bruce Joel Winge, age 54, of Boyd, Minnesota, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012, at the Prairie Home Hospice in Marshall, Minnesota, due to a failing heart along with other health issues. He had been doctoring for some time and had hopes he would eventually be able to have a damaged aortic heart valve replaced. Bruce became a patient at the North Central Heart Institute in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. However, his health deteriorated and his already weakened heart condition made surgery next to impossible. With this news, Bruce was transferred into Hospice where he passed away early Tuesday morning. Bruce Joel Winge was born on July 28, 1958, the youngest of five children, to Gordon and Doris (Alstad) Winge. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on October 14, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church and confirmed May 6, 1973, also at Trinity Lutheran. He attended grade school in Boyd and also attended Dawson-Boyd High School. Bruce attended the Granite Falls Vo-Tech where he received his GED in 1979. When he was younger, Bruce helped his dad at the Feed Mill in Boyd. One of his first places of employment was AMPI in Dawson. He also worked at Country Kitchen in Montevideo and was a bartender at the Municipal Liquor Store in Boyd. Bruce and Julie Johnson Olson became parents to a baby girl, Dori Charlene, on October 30, 1991. He then became employed at Innovex Inc. in Montevideo. After being laid off, he went to work at the Clarkfield Care Center and Luther Haven as a cook. His last place of employment was at Prairies Edge Casino Resort as a Security Guard and a First Responder at the casino. Bruce enjoyed football, baseball and most any sport, reading, cooking and baking, plants and gardening, mowing the yard and just going down town to shoot the breeze. He was a simple man, a humble man. He loved kids and taking care of Mia and Gizzy, whom happened to be close in distance. The kids loved his bar-b-ques and chocolate chip cookies. He is survived by his daughter, Dori, and soon-to-be born granddaughter, Aisley. He is also survived by Dori's half sister Cali Jo and her children Ryder and Riley, friend Julie Olson Johnson, brother Neal Winge of Boyd and sisters: Ellen (Dan) Dames of St. Paul, Gail (Dennis) Long of Madison and Julie Nilson of Boyd and nieces and nephews: Brian (Judy) Long, Jason (Jennifer) Long, Ronda (Thomas) Inman, Leah (Patrick) Smith, Kristen Clem, Matthew Dames and Kevin (Darcy) Nilson. Bruce is also survived by great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews other relatives and many, many friends. He touched the lives of many people. He also will be missed by the many family pets. He was preceded in death by his parents, all his grandparents, most all of his aunts and uncles, cousin Roger Johnson and brother-in-law Jerry Nilson. Blessed be to God for letting everyone know and love him for 54 years.
