Obituary

Blenda Victoria Miller, 85, formerly of Cottonwood, Minnesota, passed away at the Granite Manor In Granite Falls, Minnesota, on Sunday, May 14, 1989. Funeral services for Blenda Miller were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 1989, from Christ Lutheran Church of Cottonwood with Dr. Arthur W. Holmes officiating. Organist was Gwen Arneson with vocal music by Margaret Rewerts. Burial was in the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery, Cottonwood, Minnesota. Serving as Casket Bearers were Andy Anderson, Solvin Johnson, Larry Kotval and Dan, David and Jerry Ree. Blenda Victoria (Ree) Miller was born in Sacred Heart, Minnesota, on July 17, 1903, the oldest child of Nels P. and Guri Ree. She was baptized in Sacred Heart and confirmed in Hanley Falls, Minnesota at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church by Dr. Ole Lokenskord. Blenda grew up in the Hanley Falls area. She attended school at district 45 and also the Madison Normal School. She was employed in Granite Falls before her marriage to Ray E. Miller on September 19, 1923 at the Yellow Medicine Lutheran Church of Hanley Falls. After their marriage, she and Ray farmed northwest of Cottonwood, moving to Cottonwood in 1959. Blenda's husband, Ray, passed away in October of 1972, and in 1983, Blenda moved to the Granite Manor where she resided until the time of her death. She was an active member of the Ladies Aid and the Cottonwood Senior Citizens. Surviving Blenda are her children, one daughter and son-in-law, Ardys and Roger Hjerpe of Crosslake, Minnesota (formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota); one son and daughter-in-law, Lewon and Lilly Miller of San Antonio, Texas; four grandchildren, Cindy, Terri, Bruce and Ronnie; one great grandchild, Kayla; one sister, Gladys Hirman of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two brothers, Arthur and sister-in-law Ruth of Montevideo, Minnesota, and Waldo and sister-in-law Theodora of Spring Park, Minnesota; three sisters-in-law, Hillborg Ree of Granite Falls, Theodora Ree and Helen Ree both of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Blenda in death were her parents; son Harlow; husband, Ray; sister, Judith; and four brothers, Kermit, Homer, Ervin and Newell.
