Betty Bernice (Aker) Nelson was born on February 5, 1924, to parents Anton and Aletta (Eliason) Aker. She was one of eight children. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Montevideo High School, Montevideo, Minnesota, in 1944. She was employed briefly in the Kaiser Shipyards in Oakland, California. Upon returning to Minnesota, she was employed at the Clarkfield ASCS office. Betty married Harold E. Nelson in November 25, 1945, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They were the parents of a daughter Cheryl and a son Mark, She was active in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church, including President of the A.L.C.W. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Betty passed away at her home in Montevideo on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the age of 81 years, 10 months, and 1 day. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Montevideo and her children: Cheryl Malzahn of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Mark (and Joyce) Nelson of Clarkfield, Minnesota. She is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters: Minda, Agnes, Lilah, Gertrude, and Grace and her brothers Henry and Lewellyn. Blessed be her memory.
