IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Bettie Caroline
(Anderson) Severson
July 16, 1888 – May 25, 1954
Mrs. Bettie Caroline Anderson Severson was born in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, on July 16, 1888, the daughter of Pete and Inger (Nelson) Anderson. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith by Rev. B.F. Bengston of Swede Home Church and confirmed by Rev. C.E. Shaleen on August 10, 1902. Her girlhood days were spent in her home community until her marriage to Sebert Severson, by Rev. Carl A. Larson on November 24, 1909. They began farming in Normania Township, and also farmed several years in Swede Prairie. When they retired in 1943, a home in Cottonwood was purchased where she has a host of friends and relatives who sadly miss her winning ways and activities in church and community gatherings. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, and the following children: LeVerna (Mrs. Norman Reishus) of Cottonwood, Arvie of Hazel Run, Minnesota, Beatrice (Mrs. Eveard Berre) of Marshall, and Randine (Mrs. Jerome Hatlestad) of Minneapolis; ten grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Ella (Mrs. Sever Kompelien) of Minneota, Minnesota, Bennie Anderson of Rock Island, Illinois, Alvin of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Palmer of Cass Lake, Minnesota, Arnold of Hazel Run, Minnesota, and Mae Oakland of Clarkfield, Minnesota; an uncle, Nels Bergman and family of Connecticut; and a cousin, Emma Nelson of Malmo, Sweden. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Bennett, her parents, one sister and brother, and three infant sisters. She passed away peacefully on May 25, 1954, at her home. She had reached the age of 65 years, ten months and nine days. A loving wife and mother has gone to her rest. May God bless her memory.
