(Peterson) Timgren
September 17, 1908 – June 23, 1996
Betsy "Betty" Timgrin was born Sept 17, 1908 to Lewis and Inga (Slaan) Peterson of Cottonwood, MN. As a young child she was baptized at Silo Lutheran Church by Pastor Haugen, and later confirmed. Betty attended Cottonwood Public School and graduated with the class of 1927. She then attended Calhoun Secretarial School in Minneapolis for one year. She returned to Cottonwood and worked at the A.E. Anderson Insurance Co. Betty married Lawrence Timgrin on April 10, 1931 at the church parsonage in Cottonwood. Betty and Lawrence were blessed with four children: Lynn, Darlene, DeAnn and Julie. They farmed northwest of Cottonwood for 11 years and in 1942 moved to their farm west of Hanley Falls. They remained on the farm for 37 years and in 1979 they moved to Granite Falls. Betty entered the Clarkfield Care Center on August 2, 1993. She passed away on Sunday evening, June 23, 1996 at the Granite Falls Hospital at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 7 days. She is survived by her children: Lynn (and Ginger) of Burnsville, MN; Darlene (and Jim) Eye of Hanley Falls, MN; DeAnn (and Don) Peterson of Burnsville, MN; and Julie (and Jim) Bevan of Carmel, IN. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and brothers: Clifford (and Alice) Peterson, Glenn Peterson, and Lewis (and Ruth) Peterson, and several nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lawrence (in 1994), two sisters Elvina Cole and Mabel Anderson and brothers Leonard and Thorfinn Peterson. Betty will be missed.
