Betsy Amanda (Heimark) Anderson, 89, died Monday, January 12, 1987, in Northfield, Minnesota. Services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 16, 1987, at Christ Lutheran Church of Cottonwood, Minnesota, with Rev. Jennings Feroe of St. John's Lutheran Church of Northfield officiating. Gwen Arneson was the organist and Eric Anderson the soloist. Casket Bearers were grandsons and grandsons-in-law: Kurt Anderson, Mark Arvesen, Thomas Johnson, Mark Miller, Brock Nelson, Peter Soulen, Garrett Soulen, Peter Styx, Al Nyquist, Jim Herrick, Mark Porter and Tony Hall. Final Resting Place is the Christ Lutheran Church Cemetery. A memorial service was held Thursday evening in Northfield. She was born January 29, 1896, to Jacob and Christine (Storebo) Heimark who were Lisbon Township Pioneers of Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. Their homestead was located north and east of Clarkfield, Minnesota. She attended Clarkfield schools and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She taught in the Minnesota towns of Cottonwood, Castlewood, Dawson and Montevideo. On June 27, 1923, she marrried Archie M. Anderson of Cottonwood, where they lived for 30 years. In 1954 they moved to Richfield, Minnesota, and some time later to Hopkins, Minnesota. For the past 10 years she has lived at the Northfield Retirement Center. She was the 11th of 13 children born to Jacob and Christine Heimark and was the last to survive. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Bergen Lutheran Church of Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, near the Heimark farm. Archie preceded her in death November 10, 1976. Survivors include daughters and sons-in law Pat and Jim Soulen of Hopkins and Martha and Paul Arvesen of Waseca, Minnesota; son and daughter-in-law Craig and Nancy Anderson of Edina, Minnesota; and son Brooks Anderson of Duluth, Minnesota.
