Beth C. Dahl was born August 14, 1904 in Stanley Township, Cottonwood, Minnesota to parents Charles L. and Martha E. (Danskin) Cravens. She was baptized with her brothers Harold, Lawrence and James at Swan Lake Presbyterian Church in Cottonwood on July 25, 1909. She attended Marshall High School and graduated in 1922. She then attended Mankato State Teachers College. Beth taught in District #41 rural Cottonwood for three years. Beth and Gordon Dahl were married on January 20, 1927 at Silo Lutheran Parsonage near Cottonwood. To this union two children, Betty and James, were born. Beth and Gordon were engaged in farming. She lived at the Lake View Apartments in Cottonwood. She was very active at her church, Christ Lutheran, and served as President of the Ladies Society. She enjoyed square dancing, traveling and especially her family and grandchildren and great grandchildren. Beth loved to do tatting, quilting and fancy work. Beth passed away at the Granite Falls Hospital on Thursday, April 28, 1994 at the age of 89 years. Beth is survived by her daughter, Betty (husband Gene Johnson) of New Brighton, Minnesota, and daughter-in-law Sylvia Dahl of Marshall, Minnesota, and seven Grandchildren and 17 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers: Harold, Lawrence, and Charles Cravens all of Excelsior, Minnesota, and James Cravens of Cottonwood. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gordon in 1962, and son James. Also preceding her in death are sister, Marion Bartlow and brother Donald Cravens.
