Bessie Amanda Thompson was born at Clarkfield, Minnesota, July 2, 1891, the eldest of nine children born to Andrew and Christine (Winson) Lee. She was baptized, confirmed and married in the Clarkfield Lutheran Church. Prior to her marriage, she taught school for six years in the Clarkfield District. On October 4, 1916, she was married to Aleck T. Thompson. Four children were born to this union: Arda (Mrs. Merton Lundquist) of Austin, Texas, Viola (Mrs. Paul Brutlag), Adeline (Mrs. Dell Timte) and Rodney Thompson, all of Minneapolis. Thirty-four years ago, the family left Clarkfield and moved to Minneapolis where they have since resided. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Emmaus Lutheran Church the past ten years. Prior to that time she had her membeship at Trinity Lutheran where she was active in Ladies Aid, the Missionary Society and as a teacher in the Sunday School. Mrs. Thompson passed away at her Bloomington, Minnesota home, on November 14, 1962, at the age of 71 years. She had been ill for some time, but her passing came suddenly. She will be sadly missed by her husband, children and 13 grandchildren; three sisters: Mrs. Darrel Crane of Dawson, Minnesota, Mrs. Art Mittelstedt of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Leslie Danielson of Dawson; and three brothers: Orres Lee of Seattle, Washington, Arthur and Ernst Lee of Clarkfield.
