Mrs. Thomas (Bertina) Benson was born May 3, 1884, to Bernt and Bertha (Sherdahl) Eide in Stony Run Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed in the Camp Release Lutheran Church. On June 27, 1906, she was married to Thomas Benson. They resided in Stony Run Township until 1947 when they moved to a farm near Boyd, Minnesota, but retained their membership in the Bergen Lutheran Church of Stony Run Township, where she was an active member in the Ladies Aid. She was now the oldest member of this congregation. She died Tuesday, January 22, 1980, at Luther Haven Nursing Home of Montevideo, Minnesota, at the age of 95 years, 8 months, and 18 days. Survivors include four sons: Harold, Thoralf and Oliver of Boyd and Eldor of Bakersfield, California; seven daughters: Mrs. Esther Dahlgren of Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Oscar (Corella) Rasmussen of Silverdale, Washington, Mrs. Stewart (Thelma) Berg of Granite Falls, Minnesota, Mrs. John (Ruth) Laemmle of Robbinsdale, Minnesota, Mrs. Minnie Johnson of Boyd, Mrs. Marvin (Ellen) Weigt of Mankato, Minnesota, and Mrs. Hilman (Linda) Korstad of Boyd; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mary Nelson, age 99, of Clinton, Minnesota; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant son. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
