Obituary

Bertha Amanda Fenske, daughter of Peter and Katherine Wiegers, was born June 27, 1881, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized by Pastor Boettcher of St. John's Lutheran Church, Omro, on July 17, 1881, and confirmed by Rev. Jacob Frey, March 3, 1894. She attended St. John's parochial school and grew to womanhood in Omro Township. On March 18, 1897, she was united in marriage to Ludwig Fenske in the same church at Omro. Eight children were born to this union. The Fenske family lived on a farm there until 1945 when they moved to Wood Lake, Minnesota. In failing health, she had been a resident of the Clarkfield Nursing Home the past seven months, following a period of illness and surgery. While visiting at the home of her daughter in Marshall she suffered a severe stroke on April 30, 1965. She was taken to the Clarkfield Hospital where she passed away May 12, 1965. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1952, her son Fredrick in 1918, five sisters, three brothers, two granddaughters and one great granddaughter. She is survived by seven children: Ernest of Boyd, Minnesota, Eddie of Clarkfield, Minnesota, Selma (Mrs. Henry Wiegers) of Marshall, Minnesota, Hilda (Mrs. Walter Geistfeld), Lenore (Mrs. Harold Geistfeld) and Gwendolyn (Mrs. Elmer Geistfield) all of Wood Lake, Minnesota, and Alma (Mrs. John Wiegers of Glendale, Arizona; one sister, Mrs. Lizetta Oien of Boyd, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
