Mrs. Bertha Severson, daughter of Ole and Siri (Thone) Kompelien, was born June 17, 1878, in Lyon County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. Knute Thostenson. On December 20, 1902, she was united in marriage to Ole A. Severson. She continued to make her home on the farm in Swede Prairie Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, until after the death of her husband, August 2, 1940. A year later, she moved to Clarkfield, where she made her home. In October, 1957, she was hospitalized and her health continued to fail until she passed away at the Sausele Rest Home, Montevideo, Minnesota, April 12, 1959, at the age of 80 years. She was a member of St. Lucas Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was lovingly cared for at the home of her daughter, Ruth Anderson, for many months. She is survived by three daughters: Ruth (Mrs. A.W. Anderson) of Clarkfield, Orland (Mrs. Maurice Oftedahl) of Minneapolis, and Mrs. Bernice Hanson of Watertown, Minnesota; a foster son, Everette Loomis of Clarkfield; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Martinson and Mrs. Mary Anderson; and five brothers: Chris, Theodore, Oto, Thorvald and Orvin. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, three brothers and one sister. Blessed be her memory. IN MEMORY OF MRS.
