Bertha Augusta Koepp Laechelt, the daughter of Julius and Augusta (Klatt) Koepp was born July 11, 1892, in Omro Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. She was baptized by the Rev. Henry Vetter and on Palm Sunday in 1906, confirmed by the Rev . August Hillger in the Zion Church. She moved with her parents to Boyd where she grew to womanhood and where on February 16, 1915, she was united in marriage with August Laechelt by the Rev. Bernhard Luttmann. The two were privileged to observe their golden wedding anniversary in 1965. The Laechelts began their married life together on a farm east of Boyd where they resided two years and then moved to a farm in Tyro Township. In 1920, they purchased a farm in Omro Township where they lived 28 years or until November of 1948 when they moved to Granite Falls where Mr. Laechelt was employed. In 1961, they sold their home and purchased a home in Clarkfield where they have since resided. Mrs. Laechelt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Tyro Township except for the 13 years she lived in Granite Falls where she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Mrs. Laechelt entered the Granite Falls Hospital, Sunday afternoon and unexpectedly and quietly departed this life at 5:00 a.m., Monday morning, March 24, 1969, having attained the age of 76 years. Her parents, a brother, Leo Koepp, and a step sister, Mrs. Emma Dahlig, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband August Laechelt; her son, Wilfred of Clarkfield; her daughter, Elda (Mrs. Harry Anderson) of Omro Township; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Ida (Mrs. George Miller) of Galva, Iowa, and Mrs. Alvina Steinke of Omro Township; and a brother, Herman Koepp of Boyd.
