Bertha Ellen Rosetter was born to Ole and Oline (Vick) Henden in Clarkfield, Minnesota, on August 1, 1904. Clarkfield was her home during most of her younger years. She was baptized, confirmed there, and graduated from Clarkfield High School. However, at the age of three her family moved to Minneapolis, where they had lived until her mother died when Bertha was nine years old. At that time the father and children returned to Clarkfield. After graduation, Bertha pursued a career in teaching, obtaining her education at Madison Normal and Winona State Teachers' College. She taught school for ten years. During the depression years, she did welfare work. Over the years she gave piano and organ lessons to many youngsters instilling in them the joys and fulfillment realized in music which she loved so much. Many of her students also served the Bergen congregation. She was secretary of the Yellow Medicine County Farm Bureau for many years and was active in 4- H work. She served the Bergen Lutheran Church throughout most of her married life. She was active as organist for 30 years, choir director, several positions in the ALCW and other work in her church. She passed away at her farm home January 29, 1973, after an illness of nearly six years during which she passed on her Christian strength to many others. She reached the age of 68 years. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Clarence S. Rosetter; her three children: Richard, who farms adjacent to his parents; Verna Kay (Mrs. Howard Patrick) of Two Harbors, Minnesota, and Paul of St. Paul, Minnesota; two grandchildren: Luann and David Rosetter; one sister and one brother: Mrs. Alma Stewart and Melvin Henden, both of Portage, Wisconsin.
